Amazon Seller Account UAE: Requirements and Setup in 2026

Opening an Amazon.ae seller account takes about forty minutes when your documents are right — and weeks of support tickets when they are not. The difference is entirely in the preparation, so this article is mostly about what to have ready before you touch the registration form.

I have opened seller accounts on five Amazon marketplaces since 2018 for my own brand, and the pattern never changes: Amazon does not reject people, it rejects mismatched paperwork.

What you need before you register

For a UAE-based seller, the checklist is:

  • Trade licence covering e-commerce activity — free zone, mainland, or eTrader if you qualify. This is the document new sellers most often get wrong; I wrote a separate breakdown of the licence options and real costs.
  • Passport of the account holder, and Emirates ID if you are a resident.
  • Bank account with an IBAN in the same name as the licence. Company licence → company bank account. Personal eTrader licence → the matching personal account. Name mismatch between licence and bank is the number-one rejection cause I see.
  • Phone number for verification and a credit card for the Professional plan fee.
  • Proof of address — a utility bill or bank statement from the last 90 days, sometimes requested during video verification.

If you live outside the UAE, you can still sell on Amazon.ae: register with your home-country company documents and bank account. Amazon.ae accepts foreign sellers the same way Amazon.com does. The UAE trade licence becomes necessary only when you actually operate from inside the country as a resident.

The registration, step by step

  1. Start at sell.amazon.ae and sign in with a fresh email — not the one attached to your personal shopping account. Keeping buyer and seller identities separate saves you from weird edge cases later.
  2. Choose the Professional plan. The Individual plan exists, but without it you lose advertising, Buy Box eligibility, and bulk tools. If you are reading a setup guide, you want Professional.
  3. Enter the business details exactly as the licence states them. Legal name, licence number, address — character for character. Amazon’s verification compares strings, not intentions.
  4. Add the bank account and card. The IBAN owner name must match the business name. This is checked.
  5. Upload documents — flat, sharp, full-page scans. Photographed documents with fingers in the corner are the second most common rejection cause.
  6. Pass identity verification. Amazon may ask for a short video call where you show your passport and answer basic questions about the business. It is routine; treat it like a border crossing, not an interview.

Approval typically lands within a few working days. If it takes longer, check your email spam folder before panicking — Amazon’s document-request emails have a talent for landing there.

Why accounts get rejected (and how to fix it)

Name mismatches. Licence says “Falcon Trading FZE”, bank says your personal name. Fix: open the company account first, then register. Yes, UAE business banking is slow — two to six weeks is normal — which is why the licence-then-bank-then-Amazon sequence matters.

Expired or wrong-activity licences. A consultancy licence does not cover selling goods. Amazon does not always catch this at registration, but the FTA and your bank eventually will.

Poor scans. Rescan flat, in colour, all four corners visible. Genuinely half of all verification friction is image quality.

Recycled details. A phone number, card, or address already attached to another seller account triggers the related-account review — the slowest queue in Amazon’s bureaucracy. Use clean details.

After approval: three settings before your first listing

  • Enable FBA. You want Amazon’s Dubai fulfilment centre doing storage, Prime delivery, and returns — margins on merchant-fulfilled orders in the UAE rarely justify the operational load.
  • Check your tax settings. Once your taxable turnover approaches the registration threshold, you need a TRN from the FTA — the details are in my UAE VAT guide for Amazon sellers.
  • Set the deposit method currency. Payouts arrive in AED to your UAE account roughly every two weeks; if you registered as a foreign seller, check the currency-conversion cut Amazon takes and consider a multi-currency account.

What it actually costs to be on the platform

The account itself is nearly free — the Professional plan fee (check the current amount on sell.amazon.ae, Amazon adjusts it) plus 5% VAT on Amazon’s fees. The real money is the licence, the inventory, and the launch PPC. Can I open an Amazon.ae account without a trade licence?

As a UAE resident selling goods — no, you need a licence with an e-commerce activity. As a foreign seller registering from abroad with home-country company documents — yes.

Can I use my personal bank account?

Only if the licence is in your personal name (eTrader route). For a free zone or mainland company, the payout account must belong to the company.

How long does verification take?

A few working days when documents are clean. Budget two weeks end-to-end so a re-upload does not break your launch plan — and start the bank account process well before, since that is the real bottleneck.

Is one account enough for Amazon.ae and Amazon.sa?

They are separate marketplaces with linked infrastructure. Expanding UAE → Saudi Arabia with the same catalogue is the natural second step, and your Amazon.ae track record helps you there.
